I'm trying to get my 996XT, Firmware 1.04.00, to display an alias for the Unit ID. I've read several threads and followed their instructions, but it only displays the transmitted ID with an "i" in front.
What I've done:
Set my settings to Display Unit ID
Settings - Mode 3 - (XT Trunking Indicator)
Settings - Enable Active Channel Display Mode
Created a separate GRP in the System, named ID Names
Added a couple of lines... eg: 2 4 0 0 D I S P i527011
Set upload to Erase all Systems and Settings, before uploading.
I'm using FreeSCAN 2.19

Can I only have 1 entry per GRP for Alias names? Meaning do I need a GRP for each Alias is want displayed?

TIA - Dave

I don't think the 396 and 996 XTs actually use the alias, that feature was enabled for new scanners especially those scanners that decode nxdn, which that scanner doesnt.the 325p2 and 996p2 does and will show alias IDs for nxdn only(when transmitted by the control channel). You can however save aliases for Motorola and other trunked systems but those were also implemented in the bcdx36hp series and in the homepatrols, As well as the P2 series and sds series

I'm using firmware 1.07.03 and Freescan 2.18beta 6. It works for me with the settings below.

I got the Alias to work. Has anyone got the Alert and Light to work along with the Alias?

If you got the ID Part ok, then the Alert and Light is easy. You can make one row the way you want them, then copy and paste the values to the rows below.
