I've been looking at the HackRF.
It looks interesting and I've been thinking about ordering one. But ...................

I have one question.

Most of my antennas have a preamp mounted at the antenna.

Most 'transceivers' I've tested over the years generate a brief RF spike on power up.
That would kill a preamp instantly.

Is anyone using a HackRF with a preamp? No problems?

While I can't say for sure about the spike, it appears that the HackRF supports a preamp and will supply power through the antenna cable. In SDR Console, there is a button for antenna power.
I really wish there was a "HackRF" for dummies somewhere.....

It'll come. Buy one, and join the mailing list - it'll provide the fastest route to knowledge. I've now been playing for a few hours with mine, and so far, I love it.

It should not be a problem. I have a preamp for 225-400 installed and I used the HackRF all the time with it. It doesn't emit any RF on powerup. It only transmits when commanded.
