A night or two ago, while listening to 154.01 (AA County Fire Dispatch),
I heard a unit called which was "CW-1". What kind of unit could this be?

Thanks

CW1 is the Anne Arundel Alarmers Coffee Wagon 1, a large RV type vehicle used on large incidents to provide hot food and drink.
There is a picture here:Coffee Wagon 1 It's about 3/4s of the way down the page..

Glad to help!

Now a question for everyone else- Who/What type of unit(s) are ALS 2 and ALS 3? I know that EMS 1 and EMS 4 are Paramedic officers, but don't know about these two.

ALS 2 was performing Fire officer duties on a Fire scene today..

The ALS could stand for Advance Life Support. In the pass I have heard ALS use for this purpose.

That's what I thought at first, however today when ALS 2 took charge of the fireground until the Battalion Chief arrived I questioned that assumption. As far as I remember, I have never heard EMS1 or EMS4 ,the paramedic officers, take charge of fire ops......

For what it's worth, in my department, the EMS supervisor (EMS 1) is a Fire Captain/Paramedic. He'll take command of an incident from a lower ranking officer as needed, or will many times take the "safety officer" position at a working incident.

Around here the EMS officer is a LT who usually only has EMS training. However, some of them do have FF training, but aren't profecient and never command an incident.

Why can't you all call it Anne Arundel County like it is to be called in lieu of the cheesy AA?

Yes I see, and the funny thing is I have only been through there a couple of times in my life.

Because it's so much faster and easier to type AACo. instead of writing A-N-N-E A-R-U-N-D-E-L.

My question was answered by someone over at the Watchdesk:
ALS 2 and ALS 3 are the Captain and Lt. assigned to the EMS office at HQ.

Just as an FYI, all career Paramedics in AACOFD are also firefighters. In fact, they are classified as FFIV (Firefighter-Paramedic). They can promote to whatever level they want to, and would be able to take command of a fire or EMS incident if neccessary, its just not their primary objective. For instance, former Fire Chief Simonds was and still is a Paramedic.
