Wish Canada would make up their mind.. Were in,were out, were in,were out..
meanwhile the CF-18's are getting old fast..
Don't get me wrong I love Canada and the nice folks but it is time to get off the military pot.
Canada ranks 16th in GDP defense spending 1.2% out the 20 NATO countries but everytime a new govt
gets elected they kick the can down the road..
Pretty bad when even Obama (Nobel Peace Prize Winner lol) mentions that.. :)
Enjoy the show!

Unless there was a wood cutout like Peter McKay sat in at the press conference 10 years ago...

Yes that was mentioned in this article,$47K wooden mockup..
Everything about F-35 is expensive..LOL but article states Canada has invested a lot already so tough to walk away.
Boeing giving Canada something extra to think about.but even the Lib gov admit they got to make a decision soon.. Months they say.. not years..

Perhaps Boeing is hoping to seeking to capture something as a consolation prize after having their butt ugly X-32 rejected?

Personally IMHO I think the Super Hornet is the best for Canada because unlike the US we have large areas where if you have a flameout on the engine you're in the middle of nowhere and will take SAR days to reach you. Where as the super hornet has 2 engines.

The last single engine aircraft Canada had was the starfighter that DND nicked named the "Widdowmaker" for the single reason so many pilots died when there was a flame out...

I thought the CF-18 was an odd choice for Canada back in the 80's, being that it was conceived as a carrier based aircraft, and Canada doesn't own an aircraft carrier. F-15's would have made more sense. Military procurement is 99% political, 1% common sense.

Except the super hornet is not stealthy. Russian technology is ridiculously modern... The super hornet is not. Never mind that it is not even capable of Mach 2... Where as the F-35 can super cruise.

Besides being a low observable aircraft, it is more importantly a sensor platform.
