Thought I would post my set-up in Toronto of my ACARSD Server and a second computer running on it's own.Loads of charts and log books. Also a few display models of a few of my favourite aircraft. Pictures on the wall, etc.

Last picture is an older one of my mobile ACARS when out spotting at YYZ.

Very nice setup!

Love the pictures and the models also. Big Aviation enthusiast myself and aiming to get my licenses.

Love the DC-10! Not many of the "3 holers" left around :(

ACARSD for sure and have Air Nav as well. Used to run WACARS and POSFIX, but prefer the logs that are generated by ACARSD and the fact it can e-mail the file at midnight all by it's self. :)

Thanks for the comments and I use two mag mounts on the roof of the van, a discone at home for ACARS monitoring.

Cheers,

Steve

Nice set-up ! I like planes too, and occasionally go and hang out at YYZ, but especially during the airshow. I'm familiar with the usual hang outs at the ends of rwy 5/23. Runway 24 is outside my bedroom window (Noah marker). I don't have acars on this old PC, but the new one will definitely get set up for it.

Are the models already assembled or the kits you do yourself ?

I am no longer staying interested in aircraft after peel region police interogated me and my friend and wrote a report to RCMP for taking pictures of planes

Don't be silly. Police are just doing their job, and you have every right in Canada to take pictures and listen on a scanner.

Did they just happen to see you, or did someone report you ? If someone reported you, then they probably made it sound worse. This doesn't make sense to be interogated as there are many, many people around the airport at any given time doing the exact same thing, and many more during the airshow too !

Those are "Pacmin" models and are airline display models purchased on e-bay or gifts. I really don't have the time to build my own, one day maybe?

I have had a few dealings with Peel Regional and if you are polite and explain what you are doing they usual just leave you alone. There a few spots that are not the best place to be taking pictures as they seem to have come to the realization that "spotters" or "shooters" will always be around. There is also an Airport Watch Program in effect at Toronto YYZ.

Here's a link: http://www.canairradio.com/airportwatch.html

This isn't a "get out of jail free" program but gives some credibility to people who prefer to spend their spare time at the airport watching aircraft. I belong to the Watch Program and have come to meet more fellow spotters at YYZ.

If anyone elso monitors ACARS in the Toronto please let me know, looking for more local logs to add to the other ones in the area. It is a great way to tie-up overflights and aircraft landing/departing at YYZ.

Thanks for your comments!

Steve
