Will you be running a server?
Let me know what your server name/IP is.
I’m running the WNYacarsd server, check it out.
Start here:
http://www2.demis.nl/mapserver/mapper.asp
Define your map.
Save the map image as Card-1.gif, Card-2.gif, or Card-3gif in your acarsd directory.
DON’T close the page after you save the card-x.gif.
Now open your client/server.
Click MAP then DEFINE MAP SETTINGS.
The top three columns = card-1, card-2 & card-3, first four rows, are where you enter the map coordinates.
From the above site, coordinates will be in the lower left hand side of the status bar in that window.
Move your mouse to the top of the map window keep it on the map, enter that latitude for the top position of card-x.
Now move the mouse to the bottom of the map window, keep it on the map, latitude = bottom position of card-x.
Then move the mouse to the left of the map window, keep it on the map, Longitude = left position of card-x.
And move the mouse to the right of the map window, keep it on the map, Longitude = right position of card-x.
Click SAVE when you finish entering the map coordinates.
Let me know if you need more help.

it appears to be decoding correctly ,& I do rarely see position reports included , I'm pretty new to this & for all I have read I just cannot understand how to make a map for the Windsor /Detroit region
I am using AcarsD & Posfix for the mapping Im assuming I am not plotting my map coords correctly or converting them correctly , Also I dont see my own location , I'm not sure what I am doing wrong as far as the mapping part

Unless it's been changed, ACARSD has a problem with positions (and actually, it's not exactly the program's fault).

Aircraft have the sad trick of reporting positions BOTH in degrees/minutes/seconds and in degrees/fractional degrees. There's no way to tell from the data which is being used, except 'common sense' interpretations, namely, 118.67.00 obviously can't be degrees/seconds, since seconds can't go over 59.999, etc.

Posfix uses the other mode from what acarsd assumes, which turned out to be more accurate for position reports I'd been getting around San Diego, but your mileage may vary, depending on what aircraft in your neck of the world tend to use.

I once submitted a suggestion to the acarsd folks that it could use addition of a switch to let the user decide which mode to assume position reports were using, but never saw it implimented. Haven't checked in some time, though.
