Around 3-5:00pm EDST, heard clear comms on 163.725 doing radio checks. Then linked to 163.775. Monitored on the 197 and the 396. The 396 showed LNK when linked. Cool feature. Does anyone know if those two frequencies are repeaters. Full bars on both radios.
TIA,
Larry

Those are typically repeater output frequencies. Based on your report, it sounds like they are hot linked to one another.

Thank you, JASII. It was what I surmised, just needed confirmation. The signals were strong enough to indicate repeaters. Thanks again.

ICE and BP have been observed using ONE Input Freq/NAC with Multiple Output Freq's/NAC's in various regions to cover a wide Area.

Here in Boston they have a 5 Rptr network
Boston - Greenfield - Worcester - Manchester - Mt Washington [MA & NH]

Sounds like that might be what you found. I would go with ICE due to your location not being a border state :) See what you find for an input FREQ/NAC. I'll bet it's 149-151 for the NAC as they tend to use One lower than the lowest Rptr NAC

Good find - Wonder how many other Repeaters might be out on this network too...

163.775/NAC 155. 163.725/NAC 152.

That's CBP on your latest frequency. I don't normally hear much from them on their repeater (NET-1), but they do like to chat it up on the simplex side (TAC-1). The databursts you're hearing is OTAR.

The data bursts maybe video transmissions to the on ground units. I've heard Omaha asking if they are receiving the video.

It's unlikely they would tie up a voice channel with Video.

I would suspect the units on the ground are receiving these
via the 900-928 band

I could be wrong but according to the 396 manual, LNK has nothing to do with linked repeaters, but is an indication of data being on a voice channel in a trunked system. There is no way for your scanner to determine if repeaters are linked or not. In my estimation, it is likely that your scanner was detecting some kind of data going out over the channel, which may or may not have been actual data. It would be similar to how some scanners appear to sense PL tones on frequencies with no tones present.
