Does anyone know if Adams County has changed their SO dispatch frequency. I have been using 154.815 and hear very little on that frequency now. Using 3 different scanners with same results.

Adams County Sheriff and Peebles Fire moved to MARCS a little over a month ago. You need a digital scanner to listen to them now.

Thanks. I figured I could get the answer here. I have a cabin in Adams County but no computer access. I am ok on the digital scanner. I had a feeling that was the case. The fire and ems still use the old vhf freqs. Will have to set things up for it.

now on marcs

The S.O. moved to Marcs as well as the local P.D's....They still occassionally use the 154.815 when they cant get out on marcs....I use a RS Pro 2096 with a dedicated 800 antenna...The problem I have is picking up OSP as far away as Hamilton county over top of the S.O traffic...867.8250 is what I've been monitoring

I think you mean 39696. 10696 is TGID 10688 with a +8 status bit.
It is an Ohio National Guard talkgroup and should not be Adams County.
Adams County Law Enforcement talkgroups are 39696 Sheriff Dispatch
and 39712 Sheriff TAC.

what to program?

should I just monitor 867.8250 or should I program the talkgroups? while listening to 867.8250 I cant squelch out the far away traffic( OSP, state parks, etc)

If all you are doing is monitoring a single frequency off of a MARCS site, then not only are you missing most of the traffic,
you will hear from any MARCS radios that keys up and affiliates with that site. You'll miss part of the conversation and
it could be anybody talking.

Program in the MARCS sites for the area you want to monitor AND the talkgroups you want to monitor.
If all you want to listen in to is Adams County, then only program in talkgroups used by Adams County.
That way you won't hear OSP, ODNR or what else you don't want to hear. When listening to a trunked radio system,
you do it in trunking mode with a trunktracking scanner in order to follow conversations properly.

I suggest you go to the Wiki HERE and read up on how trunking works, because it sounds like you are not familiar with it.

In all reality though, scanners are pretty much useless in Adams Co now...most of all of it is handled by cell phone...pretty much it's just Winchester with 200 traffic stops in 4 hours or it's Manchester telling the S.O. to give them a cell phone call....the dog catcher stays busy though..lol
