I'm confused. all you need is the software and the tuner. you wouldn't need to hear anything with your ear.

what's your current setup?

Waiting for my dongle to arrive. Currently using PlanePlotter for my ACARS. Reveiver for that is

I see. those work pretty well. I'm using one at a remote site.

Software for decoding ADS-B with a SDR dongle does not require "calibration." Just run it.

Not the newest rig but works well ! Wish it had PL/DPL !!
Wonder if it will receive ADS-B ????

you can Download software add on to decode the PL/DPL. that's not a big deal.

depending on which USB stick you got it could decode ADS-B I thought that's what you were trying to do anyway?

search around here on the forums. plenty are using them to decode adsb.

All you have to do with the dongle is plug it in and make sure your operating system can communicate with it. The software does everything else. Hence, "software defined radio."
