Advanced Sentinel Programming Help

I need some help on setting up my county’s P25 trunked system. It use two simulcast systems (east and west). Since I’m located in the east coverage area I want to program PD regions that I can turn on/off from the 436 keypad as I listen.

The system also includes the FD which I want to listen to each time I load the scanner from Sentinel. Here’s the layout:

PD Region 4 Disp ID 1648
PD Region 4 Secondary ID 1904
PD Region 5 Disp ID 4016
PD Region 5 Secondary ID 1934
FD Disp ID 16344
FD Region 4 ID 18331
FD Region 5 ID 13415

I want to program Sentinel so that the FD ID’s are always on along with PD Region 4 Disp and Secondary, but not have PD Region 5 (both IDs) on. But if I need to activate PD 5 via the keypad (FL.SS.CC) how would I go about programming this?

I'll take a shot at answering this, but with the caveat I'm still a novice myself.

You may wish to set up three separate departments. Department 00 would have the Fire talkgroups. Department 01 would have the PD Region 4 "stuff". Department 02 would have the PD Region 5 "stuff".

So presuming your Favorites List is 00 and the System is 00 here's how you'd toggle them:

Fire: 00.00.00
PD Region 4: 00.00.01
PD Region 5: 00.00.02

(Since you're only really interested in turning on and off is PD Region 5, you'd only being doing 00.00.02 most of the time).
