DUE TO HARDWARE UPGRADES, NO INCIDENTS WILL BE AVAILABLE STATE WIDE ON TUESDAY AUGUST 5TH STARTING AT 0000 UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
Actually, I'd rather they upgrade 911. Answer on ring one - two at the most. It's not a new problem and it's not rocket science - just horizontal scaling. Fix the serious problems first and then play with the website.
It should say - "Due to getting paid $6.55/hr, we just don't care"

Actually, considering how often the local agencies (and the press for that matter) around here rely on it to get info on calls because it is faster than trying to actually talk to CHP dispatch, the no doubt relatively small cost of whatever it is that they are going to do is well worth the price.
There's a script line on the CADWEB site's page source saying "The new CAD Traffic Incident WEB Page is under heavy construction, data may be un-available and/or inaccurate. Check with Mike or Gene for status." Whoever they are. An inside comment, for sure.This is a nice way of saying... it's going away and we have no idea if it will be back ever.
Bummer
<!-- <SCRIPT>
//alert("The new CAD Traffic Incident WEB Page is under heavy construction, data may be un-available and/or inaccurate. Check with Mike or Gene for status.")
alert("The CHP Traffic Incident Information Web Page will be down for scheduled maintenance on Saturday, January 23rd from 0900-1600");
</SCRIPT>-->
Looks like it, Karl. Note that the "Filed Incidents" data goes back to only about 0700-0900 this morning, depending on the Comm Center, rather than to midnight:01 as usual.Was it updated?....it is screaming fast today.
Yeah, that was the 1999 script I was referring to. The most recent January 23 that fell on a Saturday was that year. Must be a leftover.Looks like they changed their mind:
HTML:<!-- <SCRIPT> //alert("The new CAD Traffic Incident WEB Page is under heavy construction, data may be un-available and/or inaccurate. Check with Mike or Gene for status.") alert("The CHP Traffic Incident Information Web Page will be down for scheduled maintenance on Saturday, January 23rd from 0900-1600"); </SCRIPT>-->
Also, approved media folks have access to a much more complete (less "sanitized") version of the CADWEB, which requires a password-protected log-in, and has the CHP SECURITY AND CONFIDENTIALITY POLICY STATEMENT warning, that "No person shall divulge confidential information, data or records of the CHP to any person to whom issuance of such data, information or records has not been authorized. This information is defined as, but not limited to, personnel. medical and other automated records, personnel names, Social Security numbers telephone and cellular phone numbers, pager numbers, home addresses, CHP identification numbers, driver license and/or registration information, witness, suspect, or victim personal information. Media, its agents, officers, and employees are expressly prohibited from divulging, or otherwise making use of, any confidential or sensitive information contained in the CHP Communication Centers' CAD Systems or the CHP Media Web Pages without prior written approval from the CHP. Violators may be subject to civil and /or criminal action by the person who has his/her right to privacy violated."Not only that but most of the traffic info on TV/Radio station (and other) web sites comes directly from the CHP CAD. Also most of the traffic reports on TV/Radio are read off the CAD. The CHP-TMC in Sacramento has made an officer available for the media to call when we need CAD info. This outage makes the scanner hound much more necessary on the assignment desk.
