aerial choice

Hi Guys After an accident and being "laid up" I bought a scanner (Uniden UBC355CLT) to listen to air public and ham etc. I have had a few good results being 10 miles from the airport but that is about all I can recieve using the telescopic aerial in the box. Could anyone tell me if there is is something like a good "all rounder" aerial I could use for all frequency's ie. air, public and hams please or is it a case of different aerial's for differant bands. I am hoping to (when I get mobile ) move everything into my shed so I could fix an aerial on the shed. Thanks guys

A decent multi-band omnidirectional antenna would be a 'discone' type.
Search this forum, you'll find lots of info on them.

I use a Diamond Discone antenna with very good results. Don't forget to pair it with decent coax like LMR400 or similar.
