When I listen to the Airband everything is really quiet I can hardly tell what their saying. I have gain turned all the way up and an LNA and the audio turned up and still it's quiet but on my SDS 100 the audio is just fine.

I'm not familiar with the antenna that comes with the Nooelec but judging from the screenshots, the whip it comes with looks like it should work in the 400mhz+ range so not ideal for air. Maybe try the Telescopic antenna instead.

How do the other frequencies sound?

Definitely think it's still your antenna, could be because you're using the antenna indoors? Not sure, but the included dipole for the RTLSDR Blog my SDR came with couldn't pick them up very well either. My magnetic antenna works well, but it depends on how close the plane is.

I'd try to keep the noise floor around 70. Maybe remove the LNA and see if it changes anything. Too much gain can result in some weird oddities too.

Since the sds100 sounds good, try its antenna on the sdr with out the LNA and see what you get. If all of a sudden its better, that would most likely mean the antenna is NG. If the same, then post all your settings from what ever software your using and try to include a pic of the spectrum during a transmission.

I’ll try that and get you a picture.

I will second the antenna comment I am using a RTL-SDR V3 dongle connected to a Cushcrat Ringo 2 meter antenna outside and up about 20 feet, I am hearing lots of traffic.

I switched to the the other telescopic antenna I used with the SDS and that fixed it, Thanks.
