AIRS / MMCCD Patch

Did MMCCD / Montgomery Metro Communications District get patched with AIRS / Alabama Interoperable Radio System?

I've been hearing what sounds like Montgomery PD dispatch, Pike Road FD (Montgomery County) and ALEA Troop D Montgomery all on AIRS, these are usually on MMCCD

What AIRS site are you hearing this traffic on, and what are the TG numbers showing as? I do not see anything matching your description in the past 24 hours on the Opelika site (or any of the others on the Calls platform). Are you sure you were not actually monitoring an MMCCD site?

Birmingham Hwy 150 Site oddly enough, and yes I was definitely on AIRS. For the TG numbers I honestly can't remember some of them, Montgomery SO is on 290, and Montgomery PD on 291. I'll see what else I can get soon, I also did cross reference the radio traffic to be sure.

Where were you located when you were picking up this traffic? Were you actually in Birmingham?

Note that the Birmingham (Highway 150) AIRS site has a frequency that is the same as the control channel of the Bald Knob MMCCD site in Elmore County (769.53125). What I am almost certain is happening is that even though you may have been tuned to what is programmed as an AIRS site, the radio was actually locking onto the MMCCD control channel, and thus you were hearing MMCCD traffic even though your radio was programmed for AIRS. That has happened to me on occasion with my Uniden scanners. The fact that the TGID numbers were identical to those used on MMCCD confirms this. If MMCCD was really patched to AIRS, it is very unlikely that the same TGIDs would be used.

If you are attempting to monitor that Birmingham AIRS site from somewhere like Montgomery, Elmore, or Lee counties, you are going to be well out of range.

Birmingham Hwy 150 Site oddly enough is the only one I am getting reception of, I do see that it has the same control channel as Bald Knob on MMCCD and it would make sense that it's locking onto that frequency thinking its on the AIRS system. Thanks for the reminder that it works like that, first time I've personally had that issue.
