In the last few days this talkgroup is outputting a series of beeps all the same tone. Usually 2 beeps then 4 sets of 3 beeps. No audio follows. These are recurring at about 30 minute intervals. It doesn't sound like pager tones but rather slow Morse Code dashes. Like sending MOOOO at 5 wpm. Does anyone know what this is about? More cowbell!

I've been focused on figuring out TG's for Mobile lately so I've pretty much had AIRS locked out, but are you sure it's not an automatic call sign ID using Morse Code? Used to be quite common back in the day.

The beeps used to happen more frequently, then went away. I too have noticed them in the past few days.

Somewhere along the way I somehow got the idea that it’s an alert to Baldwin Central that they need to reset/reconnect something. I don’t remember where I got that idea. But it only ever happens on that one talk group.

I've attached a recording of the tones. They're definitely not Morse code, I don't think. It's a 1000 Hz tone repeated three times, in groups of three, each tone being between 140-180 ms.

I recall this popping up for about as long as I've listened to AIRS (over a year) but this is the first time it's been so consistent. It's pretty much every 15 minutes all day long now. It seems to have started yesterday. SDRTrunk isn't showing a radio ID, either, so who knows where it's coming from.

I wondered if it might be an alert for resetting/connecting as you said. I hope they fix it! I don't want to lock out that talkgroup but it is getting old.

I think you're onto something, here. I've been hearing the beeps on the South Tower VHF frequency (154.386) for several days but, over the years, I've heard the same beep sequence on all of the VHF fire frequencies for Baldwin Central. My guess was that it was some form of over the air programming but a reset/reconnect makes a lot of sense.

I can't reveal any specifics, but it's a status emitter at the sites. The codes are specific to certain statuses. Are the codes still sounding?

They aren't sounding anymore. I think they stopped over the weekend, maybe? It's been at least two days since I recall hearing anything.
