What exactly does this mean? "Same specs as Airspy but 6 MHz view and no external clock input" What is the external clock input do? How does it affect scanning around listening to stuff?

It has no effect.
Allows you to drive several Airspy SDRs from a single clock source to create a phase coherent radio(s). In the simplest form a RF direction finder with no moving parts (antenna).
