I agree with the reply, below:Hi, I’m new to scanners. I live in alamance county nc snow camp. I looking for help to decide which scanner to buy. I would like to be able to get alamance county sheriff and graham. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Uniden 325P2 would be an ok place to start, I wouldn't spend a whole bunch of money on an SDS series right now. Listening to local channels will be limited with encryption being implemented very soon.
Thank you for replying. Will this include rescue too? ThanksA majority of law enforcement agencies in Alamance County intend to implement encryption in some form. Encrypted transmissions are unable to be heard by any scanner.
@homebrew3498 I would probably go with an SDS100 or SDS200. They are a little more money, but "buy once, cry once" and are easier to program than the 325P2Is the Uniden 325p2 hard to program for an old retired novice? My wife wants to listen to the rescue calls as we have several go by everyday. Thanks for any info.
Last weekend I noticed a distinct drop in law enforcement activity on my scanners here in southern Alamance county. On Sunday I started monitoring things more closely with DSDPlus, and I can confirm that nearly all law enforcement traffic across the county is fully encrypted now including the talk groups on VIPER and the Burlington and Graham talk groups on the Guilford Simulcast system.Listening to local channels will be limited with encryption being implemented very soon.
I live in snow camp and I’m experiencing the same thing. The viper groups seem to be gone too.Last weekend I noticed a distinct drop in law enforcement activity on my scanners here in southern Alamance county. Looks like I'll be clearing my desk soon.
The VIPER talk groups are still active, but since they're encrypted now your scanner is probably just skipping over them like mine did. Using DSDPlus allowed me to verify this. Fire and EMS talk groups are still clear.I live in snow camp and I’m experiencing the same thing. The viper groups seem to be gone too.
