Earlier I saw in the spotter a station from Alaska, tuned in and heard him perfectly. He was explained to people that every once a blue moon the bands opens up like a sliver from a flashlight and tonight it happened. I tried he made a few Q's a guy from Jersey got him and the last one he made was from Argentina. Then right before my eyes or ears the noise rose and I suppose the opening closed. I figured if I could him that well I could work him. I will keep trying.

KL7 should be fairly easily worked, keep trying especially during contests when you'll get 'em on multiple bands. Yeah, if conditions stink on any given day, then no way, but in general they're quite workable. On 6 or 160, yeah, you'll have your work cut out for you, but still it can be done!

He must be far into the interior of Alaska, or possibly pretty far north in the state.

From 2008 to now, I've probably worked AK close to 2 dozen times. There is at least 1 AK station present in any major contest. It's not that hard to work.

Over a span of 24 years, I've gotten AK on every HF band except for 160m and 60m. I even have it on 6m, although that was over a decade ago (2001) during the peak of Cycle 23.
