Almost unencrypted

I,ve noticed recently that my trx1 while scanning and receiving encrypted broadcast I can hear almost a second of talk at first of conversation.Reminds me of my pro96 days that just had to be programmed properly.Any suggestions.Also located in Eastern Canada.

"almost encrypted" = "almost pregnant"

If you're hearing anything in the clear, there is an error in the system broadcasting a bit of unencrypted traffic, or your settings are wrong somehow and garbling an unencrypted transmission after it starts.

Perhaps there is a glitch in the system causing a second of unencrypted traffic to be broadcast before encryption kicks in. But any given packet of data is either encrypted or not. There is no almost.

On fringe of repeater or systems p25 phase 1 or 2 can come across as garbled or appear to be secure and are actually just on the edge of the system and the receiver has issues decoding therefore it sees it as encrypted when it's just digital.

What type radio system? Could it be a simple encryption such as inversion scrambling?

Sounds like a weak signal situation where the signal is mostly illegible. You get a short bit of decodable data occasionally, and then it goes back to garbage with too many errors to decode, and the scanner thinks that garbage data is encrypted.
