Pretty simple really. The guard is the guy stuck in the back room watching security cameras. The officer is the one that looks professional, the on that shows respect and does his job correctly, and knows the boundaries.

I am sure you have seen the difference.

OKC CSI

You can tell yourself that until you are blue in the face but most of the folks out there are never going to see far enough past "security" to find out if you are a guard or an officer. Besides, the difference in titles appears to be elitism in the security field for some people to make themselves look better than other.

This reminds me of the debate in whether or not people who babysit convicted felons are prison guards or correctional officers. Again, CO's can preach their title all day long and every single time the news media runs a story about one, they say "prison guard".

You can't win, and the sooner you realize it, the better off you'll be. :)

Just for my personal curiousity, what are you? Guard or officer?

I fall into a different category.

If OKCCSI actually has a CLEET red card, he'll see that is says "GUARD" on it and not "OFFICER". :)

not necessarily, see Okalhoma Title 21 O.S. § 1289.25D:

"A person who is not engaged in an unlawful activity and who is attacked in any other place where he or she has a right to be has no duty to retreat and has the right to stand his or her ground and meet force with force, including deadly force, if he or she reasonably believes it is necessary to do so to prevent death or great bodily harm to himself or herself or another or to prevent the commission of a forcible felony."

Know as the "stand your ground law"

Myself and other "real officers" have always called it a red card. I'm guessing that has to do with the red laminate on the back of the card. I couldn't tell you what an unarmed card looks like as I've never seen one.

You can call it whatever you want to though GUARD since that was the point.

Somehow this thread has wandered far afield from a "Breaking Incident."
