Is there any mechanism in place to make anonymous wiki contributions?

No. You have to be logged into the Wiki in order to create or edit a Wiki article.

If you send the information to me, I can create the article for you. However, please review the Restricted Data and Censoring Data topics at the following link:

RR Wiki User's Guide - The RadioReference Wiki

Your information will need to fit our guidelines.

Thanks.

There is a 'hopping' discussion on the database forum. The wiki is being advertised as the place to put some data that some folks feel should be in the db. The db as you know is anonymous. I was curious to know what the deal was with the wiki. It sounds like anonymous wiki data is possible.

I was thinking about folks who want to post channel lineups and the such and might not want the RR.com id associated with the wiki entry...

If we allowed anonymous wiki entries our Wiki could quickly be overrun with spam.

If it's the kind of information that you want to be anonymous when you post perhaps you should think twice before posting it publicly. We have had more than one member loose his job over postings on this site, and probably a few more before I got involved here in 2006 and actively as a mod in 2008...

If you'd like, you can email one of the Wiki admins (me or W9RXR) or Lindsay with the info and we can put it up for you...

That said, if someone with a badge comes a'knocking asking who posted it, you better believe I'm gonna sing like a bird (or defer to Lindsay)

Like Lindsay said, the problem with anonymous editing is the spammers would go nuts - at Wikipedia they literally have thousands of people and automated tools to check edits for spammers - and we don't ...

I am perfectly happy with that answer. If you allow folks to pass on information to a third party to post on the wiki, that is the same dynamic as passing information onto a database admin.
