Okay, I've stumbled through the Wiki, and did a few searches on the forums, as well as read the sticky on combining more than one antenna into a scanner - so please don't say "Search is your friend", because it didn't help me and I'm more confused than before.
I would like to combine my Radio Shack #20-043 discone with my Wilson 800-900 Yagi, taking advantage of the 25 - 800 Mhz ability of the discone, and the 800-900 Mhz ability of the yagi. I'm under the impression that a diplexer would help do this.
I find I don't truly understand how the diplexer works, and whether it would be able to do what I describe above. I also don't know which diplexer to choose to perform this function.
Can someone describe the function and operation of a diplexer to me, how it differs from a splitter, how it is installed - and most importantly, which model would work for me?
