But with a crystal radio. Simple question: will it work? I don't want the use of preamplifiers or anything like that. All power free. I read about high dynamic range with the Airspy YouLoop. Not sure if that applies to crystal radios or not.

Yes... it will work.
Built a tuned spider web loop antenna coupler and inductively coupled it to a similar spider web wound coil on the crystal set.
It made a huge difference. Heard only locals without it but pulled in half dozen or more states with it.

That is a very nice kit, they supply the wood stain to, a nice
touch. They even polish the ABS pipe now that's craftsmanship and look how they routed out to wood to hide the tuning capacitor, such a clean look. I said to my self that kit can't be
made in China. Where do you see China using solid brass
hardware in anything ? They use pot metal in everything which is
garbage.
Now I know it is our fault and not China's as we want everything on the cheap but China is totally capable of making
nice stuff we just don't want to pay for it.
It is so great to see this is a USA 🇺🇸 company even if some
of the parts might be made in China. Amazon.com does not
ship that kit to Canada but it would be easy enough to order

Like me, I think the guy has a very strong aptitude for science. Not sure about the UFO stuff, but ya never know...
Heck, when I got my GED it was only because my science score was through the roof. That score helped round off the other lower scores so I could get my GED. Later, I acquired my high school diploma. That's because I went to a school called Job Corp. GED came first then high school. I feel like I've earned the GED more so than the high school diploma though.
Yeah, I've read some 75% of all the crap on Chinazon is from the land of snakes and wet markets. And people are making hand over fist money because of it too. All on slave labor. Slave labor that pollutes to no end. For example, you can't even live on the fish in the sea because of all the mercury. China just dumps all of their industrial waste right into the ocean. And they out fished their area and are now fishing near South America.

That crystal radio will be my doomsday radio so to speak. If mushrooms sprout or a CME of significance hits Earth, someone somewhere will still be on the air. You know?

That's funny, I am pretty sure I heard of the guy. Yep he is a nut case but he knows quality when he sees it, at least in his kits.
