LOCATION: Colorado 52 approximately .2 miles west of Weld County Road 67.
On 3-01-09 at approximately 12:25 P.M. Troopers responded to Colorado 52 near Weld County Road 67. (Near Prospect Valley, CO.)
A red 2009 Ford Escape was traveling eastbound on Colorado 52. The vehicle went off the right side of the roadway and continued traveling eastbound down an embankment and struck a culvert that was under a private driveway. The vehicle then went airborne and struck a nearby utility pole. The vehicle continued and rolled 1/2 time onto its top and came to its final rest facing west.
The restrained driver has been identified as Ronald J. Turgeon Jr., 67 of Greeley, CO. Turgeon sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene by the Weld County Coroner.
Alcohol, drugs and speed are not suspected as contributing factors.
Next of kin have been notified.
