Simply said, what kind of adapter do you need if you want to use a Motorola apx 800 MHz antenna with a uniden sds100 scanner? Is that an sma to sma connection? Attached is a picture Of the antenna.
Trying to help help someone.

Another concern would be if the Motorola antenna already has the correct connector but it doesn’t fit due to that raised ridge around the antenna port. If that’s the case, you’d need to find an extender that fits inside the ridge. If the antenna and radio are not compatible due to both being the same SMA gender, you would need a gender changer that fits with that ridge. (I’ve been threatening to take a Dremmel tool to it since I got it!)

I am a lineman for the county.
Is there a reason you need that specific antenna?
Motorola has a number of SMA based 800MHz antennas that will not require an adapter. May require a bit of trimming on the skirt, however. I've got a few left over from our MTS-2000's that work just fine.

Is there an antenna out there that picks up vhf trunked systems in the 150 MHz range really well much like the remtronix 820s picks up 800 MHz systems well? Suggestions needed.

You have the usual assortment of antennas with recommendations that have been posted time and time again. Antennas don’t know anything more than frequency. It matters not if the system is trunked or conventional. So, any antenna that works well on the VHF High Band frequencies will fit the bill regardless of the mode used. Remtronix has an antenna for VHF & UHF and it fits the SDS100. I’ve got one and it does the job just as good quality as their 800 MHz offering.
