I have a Pro-433 and need an extension for my antenna cable. My antenna and scanner have BNC connections. Where can I get an extension cable for my antenna? Your help is appreciated.

More information needed!

What kind of antenna is it? Is it a base installation, or mobile?

I suppose you could go to Radio Shack and buy a length (or roll) of coax and extend it using the proper coax cable adapters, but more adapters induce more signal loss.

If it's a base installation, I would replace the coax with one single length that's long enough without any splices or add on's. You could do the same thing with a mobile setup, but buying a length of coax to extend the length of existing coax is not the best idea, since splicing coax is a very bad idea, and using coax connectors and adapters will work, but it will introduce more signal loss.

You have a couple of choices:

Remove the coax from your existing antenna, buy some new RG-58 coax, and solder it inside the base of the antenna in place of the existing coax. Make the coax whatever length you need it to be. Then buy a BNC male connector and attach it to the end of the coax to attach to the scanner.

If you don't want to do all this, you can buy 6 and 12 foot lengths of RG-58 coax from Radio Shack, here.

Then, you just need a double female BNC connector to join the two lengths of cable, and the other end already has a male BNC to attach to your scanner. Radio Shack should have the double female BNC's as well.
