This antenna is a strong performer in th 800 MHz range. The Radio Shack 20-283 is an old standby around here.

800MHz Scanner Antenna : Scanner Antennas | RadioShack.com

Its BNC and will work with the little SMA to BNC adapter that comes with the scanner.

There are also many nice antennas from Diamond that have built in SMA connectors, but I don't have personal experience with those (yet).

Here's a couple links for ya :

Antenex EXC821SM - Stubby 800 antenna with SMA connector so you don't have to use the included adapter:
EXC821SM - Antenex (Centurion) 821-902MHz SMA/Male Tuf Duck Antenna

Antenex EXE821SM - Dipole 800 antenna with SMA connector so you don't have to use the included adapter:
EXE821SM - Antenex (Centurion) 821-902MHz SMA/Male Tuf Duck Antenna

I'm sure there isn't that much as far as loss when you use the SMA to BNC adapter that's included with the scanner but anytime you can get away with not having to use them the better off you'll be. The stubby antenna (in my opinion) would look pretty sweet, especially being low profile though the dipole would probably be better if you're in fringe areas.

Hope this helps !!! :D
