Hello to all. I hope everyone is doing well. I was hoping someone could tell me the technical name for the part on a mobile antenna that joins the 2 or sometimes 3 sections of the antenna together. I know some times this is accomplished by the center coil but on longer antennas it seems to just be a union. I have searched the web but not having any luck. I’m most likely calling it something it’s not. Thanks in advance for reading

In this regard most antennas are different and vary by make / model. What is the make & model?

I think Avanti called them coupler in their manual years ago. It was a small piece of stainless stock with set screw on both ends drilled to the diameter of the whip.

Thanks for the quick replies. I’m playing around with with making uhf and vhf antennas mostly for the fun of it. I have way more antennas than I’ll ever use so making more seemed like a good idea. Coupler sounds about right. Thank you.

Depending on the antenna design/frequency, it could be a simple coupler/connector or an inductor (coil). You're more likely to see inductors on multi-band antennas or on UHF (and higher) gain antennas.
