Antenna installed in attic!
well the antenna is installed...lets take a look at the steps shall we?
Step 1, (330pm) drill hole in computer room closet just big enough for quad shield rg6, feed coax up through hole
Step 2, (340pm) find extension ladder big enough to fit up into small attic space (filled with very loose and fluffy insulation that looks like a giants rats nest or maybe laundry lint), 25C outside, in attic feels like 50C
Step 3, (345pm) put my weight into very humid and expanded never opened since i bought the house attic , attic access door
Step 4, (347pm) survey with mini maglight LEd flashlight, no mice in sight, looks very clean, am thankful, work lights unavailable because didnt have convenient access to three pronged extension cord, just 2 prong
Step 5, (348pm) haul antenna up and twist on bnc connector to prepped coax cable
Step 6, (350pm) very slowly move to sticking up cable on narrow beams so as to not fall through ceiling
Step 7, (352pm) make room for antenna on top of a large pvc drain pipe to stabilize it and just as am installing, find center vertical falls off
Step 8, (353pm) curse loudly
Step 9, (354pm) make way down ladder and get larger soldering iron with solder and pliars and go back up and resolder on vertical
Step 10, (355pm) attach adapter from so-239 to bnc and snap on cable
Step 11, (356pm) crawl back down and find expanded trap door will not close
Step 12, (410pm) install handle onto trap door to pull on to close, only to find handle rips off from force
Step 13, (420pm) have spent 20some minutes getting door to close, some cursing involved, but patiently very gently chisel out spots where binding occurs until trap door closes with handle reattached, antenna installed in attic now
Step 14, (430pm) Finish vacuuming all loose insulation, throw away dust mask and disposible bunny suit, and wash up, my life probably shortened considerably, will test with handheld scanner tonight!
Step 15, (450pm) complain on RR forums
