• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

So they screwed the job up. No guarantee or ability to take it back to the shop you had the work done?

Rest assured you are going to get help here for a shop in South Carolina that will straighten things right out if you're unable to recover your money or get some kind of guarantee from the shop that screwed up your radio. If you have to pay for it, then you have to pay for it.

Sorry this happened to you.

My stock uniden runs circles around my Lincoln II. Do not ever send a radio to ground control 204.
The minute I hooked Up I sent a message my radio is now deaf. He got all offensive, would just like to get it back to factory.

Bought mine from WALCOTT RADIO. I use it mobile.

Even with RF Power down it’s a little much for a KL-203. I’ve been able to get away with it, but it’s not an ideal pairing. No dual final radio is.

I use the stock mic and keep mic gain down some.

The antenna system really needs to be as good as it can be. (Less than 1/2V drop at silent dead-key for power).

That said it’s easily better than my other radios in RX on AM where I use it the most. And my other radios aren’t bad.

A quality retailer is the best bet. BELLS, WALCOTT, BOBS, WEARECB, and CLAYS are all good.

I will send it to Walcott Monday. I broke down and will have a Stryker 955 V2 here Monday! When I get the Lincoln II+ back it will go in my truck. Slowmover, I am running a Sirio GP27 5/8 with 30 feet of real LMR400. Flat 1:1 on the Uniden.

Many CB operators have recommended Overclocked Electronics in Gary, Indiana.

Business link: Overclocked Electronics

Messaged Rick and he replied, sounds like a good guy, but then said PayPal only no CC's, then ship it to his home address not the shop. Not saying it will happen, but got burned once already, I am going with Wallcott.

That’s the sort of base set-up I’d like one day. A radio with a great sound on AM, very good SSB performance plus built-in DSP for RX, and mated to a nice antenna.

Someone who thinks he or she knows what they are doing inside of a radio, and in turn messing it all up.

Commonly seen among the crowd who thinks it’s a good idea to clip a modulation limiter and then turn up the radio’s power output, often with an amplifier added to make sure those harmonics “make the trip” across the trailer park.

Got it, Guessed it was a non-licensed radio modification. Thanks.

Well good news, as was shown on fine cb tunes channel. he never touched the sideband side. Some antenna work and sideband is working fine, AM is fubared.

Then it got dark, calling the power compant tomorrow to disconnect or replace the sodium light in the driveway with something better. I know they have LED's, but not sure if they give off less noise.

Check your antenna. High SWR indicates an antenna problem, not a radio problem. How is receive? A bad antenna will affect both transmit and receive.

Totally 180 degrees in the other direction, and my installation tech for our Village squad cars and some of our POVs, we nicknamed "Mr. Screwdriver." He like the moniker, and he was very good at his craft. He had a talent for putting radios, lights, sirens, prisoner cages, in-car computers, front/back radar systems, assault rifles, shotguns, in-car cameras, and now LPR (License Plate Readers) is his specialty. He will never be a Golden Screwdriver, but has been and always will be our "Mr. Screwdriver."

I agree that a high SWR indicates an antenna issue. The receive function is less sensitive to high SWR than the transmit.

What is the SWR when the radio transmits into a dummy load?
