I am working on setting up a demo of unication pagers, I am excited to see how the tone paging over the CLMRN works compared to over the VHF system
Do you know the respective TG’s? Which are simulcast candy if so, on what sites? Statewide? Local to Troop L? Etc. Also whould like to hear abt how they are doing toneouts over a trunked P25 P2 system.

From CLMRN thread:
TG 8701 LCD Dispatch 1
TG 8702 LCD Command 3
SIte B & L
It isn't 24/7 but relies on a P25 radio affiliated on each of the talkgroups. So right now not reliable for paging but isn't a big deal to make it happen.

Thanks Chris,

do you have the link to the explanation of how the numbering assignments are determined? The formula they use? I’d like to take a guess at what Avon may use if they decide to go with CLMRN and monitor any possibilities. If you have any ideas as to what TG’s might be used,I would be sure to include them.
Thanks again,

town tax ID number used. Because the low numbers are already used, they needed to make them higher.
So take the tax town number multiply by 100 and add 10000
Avon is 004 - (00)4x100 is 400+10000 is 10400. So they have TGIDs 10400 through 10499 to use.
Radio IDs use the tax town number but because all the other users were being reprogrammed, they could start low. That is all in the State P25 radio numbering guidelines.
xxxyzzz
xxx=tax town
y=radio type
zzz=individual radio number
An Avon portable radio might be 41001, a mobile, 4401, a control station 49001, etc

Thank you Chris, I’ll plug in a few TG’s for Avon and set the scanner to simmer. I will post that which I capture.

To date, two inquiry’s have been made to the Avon VFD with no response. I have no knowledge of their current plans since Canton’s refusal to allow Avon to increase the height of a Town of Canton owned tower presently being used. But there has been some CLMRN testing of Avon’s south boundary line along the Farmington River between Collinsville and Unionville, a notorious RF dead spot for Avon in years past. I would think that area would have adequate coverage considering the CO’s (Conservation Officers DEEP) patrol the area sometimes on foot, away from their vehicles. Wether Avon decides to build out their own trunked system and share (or not) with another town or go on CLMRN is still an unanswered question of mine. I do know the Town of Avon voted in favor of funding a new system, at least hardware wise, so there is money available regardless of what is decided.

Getting a bit off topic but there are no Avon radios logged on the system and no Avon talkgroups. Before that would happen, they need to sign the agreement with the state. If I recall, the PD Chief was pretty adamant in the discussion with the town council that they didn't want to have any part of the state system.
Last I saw, the license was moved to slow growth to give more time for construction. They are now looking at a location for a tower on town property behind the Transfer station on Huckleberry Hill Rd. More money, another referendum, more delay.

Copy all. The fact they were exploring if CLMRN has coverage, or how much coverage in those questionable areas of town, was what is driving my interest. As far as the PD Chief goes, PD Chiefs come and go quite regularly and Avon is no exception. As for what weight the PD Chief’s position has, My money is on the VFD Command structure, long or lifetime residence’s of the town. When it comes time to vote it’s not too hard to figure out. But that’s not to say I don’t appreciate your input. I do. I’ve never had cause to question it. Thank you again.

Why not do TG alert, Tones are completely unnecessary, Set up the MCC7500 correctly and you can alert 5, 10, 15 or 50 departments in 1 second, no more 10 tones for a structural response taking up air time
