I saw it this weekend over the speedway and Sunday my uncle said it passed over his house which would make a northernly direction from Concord. I figured it was heading back though something online said be back this weekend.

Anyway, i nearly missed it but sometime this afternoon Airship N1A contacted KVUJ on 126.275 going E to W thru Stanly's airspace, but everything else was garbled and since i was using a VOX recorder I can't say for sure the timing.

I suspect CLT and JQF freqs are going to be the easy places but has anyone caught anything further?

And anyone know where it is now? Wingfoot One i believe it is.

Also does anyone know where it docked overnight this past weekend? JQF perhaps? I know it has been at RUQ in the past but I dunno anything. I'd like to see if i could get a pic at some point.

My guess is it is near Fayetteville NC doing promo work for the Goodyear plant there.

sorry guess i shoulda mentioned it was over Charlotte Motor Speedway on sat when i saw it.

side note, yesterday afternoon (day before yesterday?) EAGLExx was talking to CLT about doing practices for the race flyover. the little i caught tho, was on the CLT UHF freqs, which is why i mention it, i have only heard em talking on the standard VHF freqs previously.

so anyone laid eyes on El Blimpo in the past two days? Just a location where you saw it would be appreciated. Thanks folks

I see the blimp up again today near the speedway.

Spacellamaman, which CLT UHF freqs were you referring to?

151.625?

I see the blimp up again today near the speedway.

thanks for the heads up, tho i am just now reading it :). i contrived a reason to drive out that way
yesterday, a bit too late, and just caught a glimpse.
however, while not positive, i have good reason to believe Goodyear (N1A?)
was using:

151.625 PL 151.4

Spacellamaman, which CLT UHF freqs were you referring to?

sorry shoulda been more specific, my intent was to make sure anyone
interested had all possible freqs que'ed up.

on the practice day i caught brief tx's on

307.8 definatly EAGLE flight

and

282.325 almost certainly them too cause it was the same time period and i
never hear anything on this one

so for safety's sake, in addition to civ VHF, throw in

257.2
257.8
377.15

and for good measure

348.6 ground, cause sometimes they forget to change channels
292.25 cause, who knows, only adds a fraction of a second anyway

previously i heard em on

300.025 A2A
260.100 A2A

and

128.325 KCLT
134.650 KJQF

if i can actually get down there in time and its not called off, ill Signal Stalker it (thats as awkward to write as to say), but if i am home, 30+ miles away, ill prob be running 300.000-305.000 search in case they switch some things up.

NOTE:
also i ought to mention as of now 2pm, 1400 local, 1900 zulu, i have not seen a NOTAM for the flyover, only

!JQF 05/013 JQF AIRSPACE PJE WI AN AREA DEFINED AS 1NM RADIUS OF CLT058016.4 (2.4NM SE JQF) SFC-6000FT 1805272300-1805272345

parachuting between 7-745pm. There has been a NOTAM in the past for the two years i checked, but there might have been ones for the practice too, which i didn't see this year either, so i dunno.

In So Cal here we have a permanent Goodyear blimp stationed about 10mi from me and it flies all over So Cal every week. Many years ago the pilot was a ham (Jimmy) and he was on 146.52 quite often. I remember talking to him once while picking up my daughter and she asked who I was talking to on the radio. I said the blimp and got the eyes rolled back and a "yea, whatever" response.

Yeah, we live 3 miles away from their Pompano Beach hangar and see the N1A crews often at lunch stops. Nice people, but they won't disclose their private channels.
