Anyone Ever Try Scanning at Supercross Races?

I'm new to scanning and bought a scanner to try to listen in to the factory/other race teams communications during the races much like NASCAR. I was able to pull the production crew's frequency for SPEED TV but nothing from race manager to mechanics etc...Anyone have any ideas or know if this is possible? The factory teams have guys running around with radios, and the track announcers/race officials have radios. I can't seem to find any info on these races anywhere. I thought they would use NASCAR frequencies or similar ones, but my scanner turned up nothing. Thanks for your help. I look forward to posting and reading all the good info you all have here.

They may be using rentals from a mobile comm. co. ?
Check out who the two way rental co.'s are in your area and what freq's they are licensed on .

Well, from the AMA Supercross Rules:

2. Electronic transmitting of information, including radio communication, to
or from a moving motorcycle is prohibited with the following exceptions:

a. AMA Pro Racing transponders utilized for scoring purposes (mandatory
equipment assigned by AMA Pro Racing).

b. Data or video transmitted for the sole use of the AMA Pro Racingapproved
event television production (mandatory equipment assigned
by AMA Pro Racing).

c. Automatic lap timing devices.

So, no NASCAR type comms with the vehicles.

The teams could be using FRS/GMRS ht's, or most anything else, though. But I wouldn't expect a lot of comms to be needed. They're all right there at the 'pits'.

I think a decent guess on basic event stuff of this size and nature would be to search the UHF commercial range. There obviously could be other stuff, but generally speaking, you're likely to find some UHF action between 461-470. Good luck.

Haven't been to Supercross, but I was at Daytona in 2005 for the roadracing.
Had AMA Ops on 467.85 DPL 244 and 469.5 DPL 244.
SPEED was on 457.8125

During a Grand Am Rolex Series race at VIR the SPEED helo used 467.8 DPL 023,
TV cameras used 464.5 PL 114.8.

I'll have to add the rest of those AMA freqs to my scanner. I'm going to Daytona this year but won't be sticking around for the AMA races.
