Well, my cell phone is digital. It sometimes reverts back to analog though. Does that count for anything? :)

I've now got a new BC396T and have been monitoring the Tulsa system. First "hit" that I got was 12400 (EMSA), which was encrypted. Oh well. Getting ready to start checking out I-calls with this new box.

Any other talkgroups that you know of that are typically digital most of the time?

How many Tulsa area TGs are digital?

Well the Uniden website has the card for $99.00

BEWARE that the card is only good for 3600 bps systems and not 9600 systems. I don't know what type system Tulsa is running so you should check that out first before you buy.

Since the Tulsa system is "mixed mode" (analog and digital), I assume they could only run 3600 bps. The 9600 bps needs to be a completely separate trunked system, unless I am mistaken.

I can't imagine that Tulsa will get rid of analog for a while (since the smaller cities that use the system would get hit pretty hard for the $$). Anyone heard anything to the contrary?

There is alot of Digital Communications on the Tulsa System. Some U.S. Government agencies are using Digital also.

Using a Pro 96 for the U.S. Government agencies, BC296D for the Tulsa Trunked and playing with the new BCD396T!

Do you have a list of the digital talkgroups for the U.S. Government agencies that have gone digital? I'm also using the BCD396T and have been pretty happy with it so far. Can't wait until Uniden gets the programming software up on their web site.

After being out of the scanning hobby for a few years, I must say I am impressed with my new Uniden 396t, hopefully I've chosen the right scanner to enjoy this game once again. I'm sure in the near future I'll post some questions that will show my lack of knowledge in falling behind since my Pro-92 days.

Except for a few small details, the BC396T is pretty near "perfect" for monitoring both trunked and conventional systems. The close-call feature came in handy the other day when I was next to a two-way system and wanted to monitor it.

Definitely the "breakthrough" product that a scanning enthusiast would want to purchase to keep up with the latest and greatest.

Can you monitor EMSA with the BC396T?

No...the BC-396T handles digital audio great, but the EMSA traffic is encrypted in addition to being digital format. Motorola would need to release the encryption codes to the scanner manufacturers (which will never happen).

Rats. I figured that was the case.

Wouldn't it be cool if the scanner manufacturers were owned by the radio manufacturers? Then we would have one of those deals like we did with radar detectors — the same company manufactured the radars and the detectors so they would sell the new technology to the police then wait a year or so and sell the new technology buster to the public.

What we need here is a little old fashion corporate conspiracy!
