That's a neat radio!

I think I might want to buy one. Anyone heard how much it's going to cost yet??

It's a great receiver. Any mode on any freq. Very sensitive and selective (should be for what they cost). It does not do digital.
It is not a scanner. Yes it will store 99 channels (there is a mod to double this) and it will autowrite several channels when searching (very nice feature). Scan delay is selectable for Off/5/15/infinity unless you do another mode that will make it act like a regular scanner.
If you get a TV-R7000 module you can watch regular TV and other video signals on a monitor.
Mine has the mod's and I have the tv module and a shortwave converter too.
To make it worthwhile to have this receiver make sure to use a topnotch outdoor antenna (of your choice) and high quality coax. Also remember that it uses N connectors not bnc on the antenna connection.

He's talking about the upcoming IC-7000, which looks like it will replace the IC-706MkIIG. HF/6m/2m/70cm ham rig. Truely an awesome radio, at least if it fulfills the advance billing. Advance information here. I'd love to get one when they come out, but suspect I'll settle for getting the 706 at hopefully lower closeout prices. It would sure look good in my truck's radio console!

OH! I will have to check it out too. Thanks

(just not right someone else using the 7000 number! Not like there is a shortage of numbers!)

Assuming they don't raise the price yet again on the 706!
