I had lunch in Shelby today, and there were several Deputies eating there as well (Fatz). Of course when it was time to leave I drove around the parking lot to get a look at the cars

I didn't see any 800 antennas (for Shelby's system or MDTs) but I saw the regular VHI-Hi 5/8th wave on the left side, and what looks like a UHF or dual band antenna on the right. The closed coil looked longer than some UHF antennas I'm used to.

Is it possable they have installed dual band antennas for a scanner in all of the vechicles? They are surrounded by counties using VHI-Hi to the north & west, and UHF to the east, so it could be an idea.

If anyone has any inside knowledge, but does not want to post. You can PM or e-mail me at Grog_RR@yahoo.com

Thanks :)

Off the topic, but the Shelby Star newspaper provided some extensive and commendable coverage of Shelby Police Chief Van Hoy's funeral yesterday.

There is both written coverage, and video segments of the services and procession, on the newspaper website ( www.shelbystar.com ).

Officers from a number of law enforcement agencies in the region attended the services.

The newest ones I have seen are the Uniden's BC785XLT's, some older cars have the RS 2067 in them. A few years back they had Relm mobile scanners in them but have not seen one in a couple years.
