The first D-Star repeater is now up and running in Indianapolis. Just to get my feet wet with D-Star, I'm going to purchase a 91AD and use a brick amp while mobile. I hear the ID-800 is just an IC-208H that has the D-Star capabilities added. I think I will wait for a D-Star mobile rig that is designed and manufactured from scratch. I'm sure now that D-Star repeaters are going up in many places in the U.S., Yaesu, Kenwood and Alinco will soon be making D-Star radios.
