My wife and I going up to vacation all of next week near Woodford, VT. I looked on map and it seems theres a BIG HILL between Bennington and Woodford so I guess I wont hear Bennington! I was going to bring my Uniden BCD996P2 with a mag mount.

If I’d be vacationing in a valley between two 2500ft mountains, I think I would start with close call, and banks of generic frequencies like FRS, GMRS, Marine VHF (there are a few lakes over there), MURS, the hundreds of national railway frequencies, and generic aviation freqs.

If you still have time to prepare, add to these generics, any of the plentiful freqs listed here in the database section for Vermont (the mountains around that place may host some good wide area repeaters for services you’ll find in the database here).
Don’t forget to check the Scan New England website too.(Vermont Portal - Scan New England Wiki)

You should hear Bennington just fine from there.
You'll definitely hear the Mt. Equinox (County, VTSP) stuff, as well as the Mt Snow stuff (Mostly VTSP).
I bet you can hear Berkshire County there too. (All VHF).
Because of the rise, I'd throw in Rensselaer and Washington County NY as well.

Rensselaer County's system covers into Vermont quite well as long as you're up high enough so +1 on that. You should also be able to pick up SWNH KCF415 considering they have a few simulcast repeaters in the area.
