Is there any settings of the screen colors, etc., to increase the brightness, especially for daylight. As it is, I can't read it, unless stopped, and, look very closely. Would like it to be brighter. Yes, I know it will also be brighter at night, but, don't expect that will be a problem.

Best option you have is to set the back light color to something more contrasting against the black text. Menu items 45, 46, and 47 will allow you modify RGB values.
