I just purchased a used 8200MK3 and I can get it to power up on the external power supply but not battery power. I was told that this is a fixable problem, But I am not that technically inclined. I am wondering if there is someone out there who can fix this problem for me and for how much? I tried to reach out to any dealers or repair shops in NYC and have been unsuccessful at this point.

If anyone has knowledge of this problem and can help me, I'd gladly pay to have this repaired.

Thanks in advance.

The battery connectors are done from thin steel wires that are curled up to get a spring action from them. If I remember correctly they then make contact to the circuit board just by the wire leaning against the copper foil. They contact points could either have oxidized or the wire could have moved out of place. It's fairly easy to unscrew the back cover and lift it up and peek in to check if the wires are okay.

I found Eneloop batteries are a little fatter than most AA types and would not seat properly in my 8200MKIII making intermittent contact. If I quickly stuffed batteries in the receiver it usually didn't work but if I carefully pushed each one down and tested for power before putting on the battery cover it would usually work until the receiver was bumped, shaking the batteries loose again.

What brand batteries are you using? Have you inspected the battery contacts to see if they are fully mating with the batteries?
