Will the DV-1 receive a P-25 phase II firmware update that has been talked about?

The DV1 could support phase II but it is impossible to say whether AOR will ever implement it. They have a habit of promising things that never happen.

I have to agree with Woodpecker's comments. Those interested in the DV1 (or ANY radio for that matter), should only purchase the unit based on its current operating capacities.

Never make a purchase in anticipation that the manufacturer will provide additional digital modes, features, or "improvements" in the future-- more times than not, those turn out to be empty promises usually made by persons not affiliated or in any way connected with the manufacturer.

It's pretty much "what you see is what you get"--- anything beyond that is just a little extra icing on the cake.

O.K. AOR DV1 people, my last AOR radio was an 8600 MKIII with the internal P25 board. I sold it on Ebay two years ago. The 8600 had some quirks (slot cards, PRESS vs, PUSH. SEARCH vs SCAN, etc) but I was a happy camper for the most part and felt that I got my money's worth on the purchase. The DV1 is now on my radar. I need a RECEIVER to spot monitor digital signals(DMR, NXDN). Should I pull the trigger or are there better alternatives in the same price range. Again, looking for a receiver not a digital scanner (have them already). Thanks in advance for your input.

I've owned the AOR 8200 MKIII, and have helped a friend programming his TRX 1. If your looking for a good digital HT, I would recommend the TRX 1 as it is both for scanning and receiving digital modes. Next to come close would be the Icom R30, however it lacks DMR. Although the DV-10 has the spec's your looking for, you might take a look at the DV-10 forums. From what I noticed of this receiver is that it lacks frequency stability. With the digital modes, the receiver needs to be stable and dead-center to the programmed frequency. In the past, AOR has an outstanding mark for previous receivers. If AOR does come out with a new, and improved version of this receiver...I definitely will purchase one!

I would like to add that Trx1 has far more better decoded audio and all the signal info that’s useful

After borrowing one briefly I’m ordering the DV-1 this week for much the same purpose MStep has mentioned - love the IC-R8600 and R-30 but a good instrument for digital is missing from my receivers. Also I’ve really appreciated the info and opinions MStep has shared on the DV1.

Congratulations on your purchase and much luck with your new radio. I'm glad that you borrowed one first to prevent the shock of ordering a new one previously unseen, opening the box, being stunned by the small size, cheesy display (well it reminds me of the Cheetos color) and all the plastic knobs.

All that having been said, the radio does perform quite well and does several things the Icoms do not--- DMR, Yaesu Fusion and Digital Auto "DA" detect, as you now know. I'm sure there are a few I missed. Definitely a note-worthy addition to any shack.

data cable aor dv-1?

i ve never had this happen before, my usb to mini to download my butel software to the dv-1 says it's downloading but it doesn't. any help on what difference there might be. are all the cables the same that charge a cell phone that they tell you to use. thanks in advance..
