• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

If encrypted signals could be decrypted by anybody, why bother encrypting at all?

Think about it.

Encryption

I will only say this, encryption can be decrypted if you know who and where to contact the right people for the equipment, I will tell you this.... it will cost you lots of $$$$ and if you get caught its going to cost you $$$$ plus jail time, however if your clever enough you can find the right connection, I will tell you that it takes several days if not weeks to get it decrypted using lots of computers.

There used to be a website run by a bunch of disgrundled radio shop employee's that could duplicate the decrytion Key to decode it, the only problem is that the key can be change several times a day or week.

To be a bit friendler than my North American counterparts (Sorry for some of their rude tones) As they said no and more than likely never. But, I've learned that in technology, that you never say never. Thirty years ago, who would have thouht about the internet, wi-fi, and laptop tops? But, in the world of encryption you would almost have to say never. Uh, wolfman, this is not a for sale forum, and Mike think about my post. Ya'll did not have to bite the dudes head off. And no, I'm starting anything. As far as I'm concerned the matter is now mute. 'Tis the season!!

We werent being unfriendly in the least bit, you want to see unfriendly, do a search on this forum for cordless phone, that wil be a set of unfriendly discussions.

And this post was originally put in the for sale forum, through the miracle of the interweb they moved it to the correct forum.

As for 30 years ago who thought about the internet? Well how about the people using it for defense and reseach purposes?

The internet was actually around BEFORE Bob Dole invented it.

Now as far as I am concerned the matter is now moot.

(A moot case or a moot point is one not subject to a judicial determination because it involves an abstract question or a pretended controversy that has not yet actually arisen or has already passed. Mootness usually refers to a court's refusal to consider a case because the issue involved has been resolved prior to the court's decision, leaving nothing that would be affected by the court's decision.)
