To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

APX APX 7000 - Yellow LED when RXing not working

I have a strange issue with my APX 7000. I noticed starting yesterday the yellow LED next to the channel knob is not working. The strange thing is when I turn on my radio and when it goes through the startup I get the red and green LEDs so it appears the LED is working but I am not sure why it is not working when I am RXing audio. I have checked in the CPS under all conventional personalties and have ensured that "Busy LED" is checked. I am also on the Default Profile where "Disable Lights" is checked off which is the default. I did recently update the firmware on my APX 7000 to R28. After doing that it worked for a short while but now it is not working again. Any ideas on how to get it to work, could it be a hardware issue?

i just realized mine isn't either on a trunking system, it is working on conventional though. I'm wondering if its an FW issue
In your case of trunking, there is a firmware update released in R32 to fix the issue of intermittent trunking busy light indication

For the OP, you say issue became apparent after the firmware was recently updated. That's not surprising, as often there is something that breaks on every update. When they added this feature to trunking, two versions later, there was an update in another 2 to fix the indication as it was intermittent. You may have to upgrade a version or so to see if the issue is resolved, I didn't see anything in a quick glance on the version log but that doesn't always mean they aren't screwing with something.

That would explain it... My 7000 is on r31, which version of FW was the one that would cause Boot loops so i can avoid that if its not 32 or higher?
Get off R31 ASAP= Ticking Time Bomb. So bad, Motorola removed it from distribution. Get it on R32+ as soon as you can.

APX radios with 2023.2 Firmware / R31.xx.xx (R31.00.00 thru 31.02.00) may enter a continuous power cycling condition. Symptoms may not be seen immediately.
