• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Tryin' to get setup here to program these things via BT. The radio has the feature installed, and it's turned on via the menu. The BT icon displays. The computer doesn't see it tho. Programmed for standard and MPP pairing. Not sure where to go from here.

Ok Dickie ... I'll turn it off and then turn it on and then immediately try to add it on the computer and see what happens. That other post that was linked talks about creating a personal area network... You can do that from the Bluetooth system tray icon but when the application opens up it's blank there's nothing to select.

I tried bluetooth programming for my APX7000XE (has flash and module and can be seen by the computer). No success, since when I try to create a PAN it says an unexpected error occured connecting to the network. It also connects and after 5 seconds disconnects after pairing with my computer. I’m wondering if a newer APX firmware (my 7000XE is R36) has anything to do with bluetooth programming? I’ll stick to the cable for now.

The radio seems to be very picky about the bluetooth module/adapter/driver on the computer itself. My 8000 connects perfectly to my laptop - an HP Omen. It is very temperamental connecting to my desktop with an MSI motherboard. Sometimes it won't connect or even see the radio. Other times it disconnects randomly. Seems to be a bit of luck as to whether it will work or not on any given computer.

Very good to know. Now I have a 7000 in my hand, and that one doesn't have a "Search Devices" choice in the BT menu........

I also got HSP Bluetooth earbuds for my APX7000XE, which will arrive tomorrow. The APX is known to be picky with COTS Bluetooth accessories, but the APX7000XE supports HSP, and the earbud I bought does too. I read some other threads about non-Mission Critical Bluetooth accessories (COTS) being lucky to even connect to the APX, but hopefully, it works for me.

Honestly its best to have a cable for programming. One reason i dont like bluetooth is it disconnects after a read or write session so in order to do another read or write you must reconnect the bluetooth again.
