• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Can someone please share a guide to adding one dispatch channel that has multiple different quick call II paging tones being broadcasted on it and being able to activate an APX 8000 as a pager.

Is this on a True System used radio on a trunking system?
Is this a Non Affiliated Scanning radio?
This is what the Unication G4 and G5 Pagers are designed for.

APX Radios were not really designed to act as a pager so the process can be a little finicky

Are you trying to have the radio Mute all transmissions until QuickCall is received or just alert while monitoring the channel?

How many sets of tone are you trying to alert for?

There is 22 tones for the system. Mute or monitor would work but mute is preferred.

This is a VHF Conventional simulcast paging system. Non-P25 non-trunked and we have pagers as well as some districts want it in their radios.

they need 2-3 each I want all 22 in my radio for testing
There are a few different ways to do it depending on the version of firmware/options each radio has.

The First and probably easiest is to do it from an MDC Conventional System this will allow your radio to also transmit a MDC packet along with decoding the QCII data. Conventional Configuration > Conventional System > Conv Sys 1. Once here you can set the system to MDC and then scroll down to Quik-Call II and check "QCII Decode" and then you will be able to set your Tone Format and Tones. Depending on how your Tones are set up you can set up to 2 or 3 sets of tones. Once that is all set go to the Conventional Personality that has the frequency that needs the Quik-Call decoded Conventional Configuration > Conventional Personality > Conv Per 1 > Signalling > Non-Astro; set it to MDC and then the System you set up with the tones prior. Lastly, Scroll down to Non-Astro Call and set "Selective Call" to Decode and then "Unmute Type" to "and" or "or"depending on what you need. Optional if you have the Option QA09000 Tone Signalling you can use the Tone Lists to set different Pager Tones for different Sets of Tones go to Radio Ergonomics Configuration > Tone Signalling Configuration > Tone Signalling Lists > Tone List 1 and within there set your tones and then the "Alert Tone" will let you set different tones if you do this you will have to go back to the Conventional Personality > Signalling > Tone Signalling List and set it to the list you made.

The Second is to set up a Quik-Call II Conventional System. Conventional Configuration > Conventional System > Conv Sys 1. Once here you can set the system to "Quik-Call II" and then you will be able to set your Tone Format and Tones. Next, go to the Personality you want to set up the Pager on (I recommend setting up this all on its own with 1 channel in it and only use it to decode as there is no MDC Packet). Conventional Configuration > Conventional Personality > Conv Per 1 > Signalling > Non-Astro; set it to Quik-Call II and then the System you made before. Lastly, Scroll down to Non-Astro Call and set "Selective Call" to Decode and then "Unmute Type" to "and" or "or"depending on what you need.

Again APXs are not designed to be pagers and this is a very extensive process and can be very finicky if not set up properly. Let me know if you have any questions I can try to help.
