• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi All,

Im looking for help setting up an XPR5550 mobile. I want to be able to automatically send out a two tone quick call II page when I hit the PTT button on my mic, I have it setup so I can send it out going through the contacts menu and selecting my contact then hitting the ptt button. Id like to not have to go through menu's to do this and have it send everytime I hit the PTT button.

I have the signaling system set on the TX side to quick call II but everytime I hit the PTT button all I get is my voice transmission and no tones.

I know CPS is real finiky with Quick call. If the target is a single RID, I think Sel Call is easier to configure.
A similar thread here:
I'm looking to do the same thing, so curious myself (Albeit I don't have a 5550, just a 6550 and a 7550E)
It configures the same in CPS.

Yes, but I think me and OP are looking to be able to automatically send a QCII page when the PTT button is pressed, and I also wager without having to navigate menus to do so manually

I recall there are 3 different settings, PTT press, PTT release, and both.
We tried configuring it as a Sel call and placing it in the TX system to use, but regardless of what happens, the tones don't send, even when configured the way we think it should be

Update your firmware to R02.09.0001 - then assign your Sel Call to a one-touch button. You will achieve a one-touch send, it just won't happen with the PTT.

Ahh, that'd be acceptable, I'd wager, but I should probably ask, where can I (well, more rather, me and OP) get the firmware files? Y'know, within RR rules and all that

If you managed to get the CPS, I'd imagine you can get the firmware. Try the same place. If not, there's always an option to visit a professional and have them do what you cannot.

Good, but Motorola killed support for the XPRs a couple of years ago, I'll look through the website to see if they somehow still offer firmware for my radios, but I doubt it, plus, I'm kinda low on money myself and without a proper vehicle to take me places, I can't really go to a pro, even with a car, I'd need to pay for the service, so... kinda thins my options...

They did no such thing. I can still access firmware for the 6550 on Customer Hub as well as the latest firmware for the 7550e
