The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello! I have a APX6000XE and it seems to be stuck in a keypad lock? I have flipped and pressed every single button/knob on this radio and I cannot get it to get out of this lock? Does anyone know what the problem could be? Thanks!

When I flip the ABC switch the top screen white light comes on, but when I flip the switch below the channel knob it does not light up is it supposed to light up when the switch is flipped?

“Could not find a radio connected to USB port” but when I use the cable on my APX 4000 it reads fine.
The keypad lock is a pure coincidence. Has nothing to do with reading the radio. Is it an OEM cable? Are the 6000XE contacts clean and without debris?

Depends what its programmed to. Could either be unprogrammed, blank, or some other function that isnt applicable to that channel.

Is this your 6000XE that you are messing with? Because if it is, you should know what the buttons and switches are programmed to. If its not, id reconsider messing with someone elses radio.

Yes this is my radio I just purchased it off of eBay I’ve already contacted the seller and waiting a response but I figured I would ask for help from here while I waited.

do you get a bonk when you press a button or no response at all? Any chance you can get the thing into service mode? (Sometimes keypad lock isn't programmed to lock the sides)

Does it have a display? If so, try pressing the d-pad right button to see if lock/unlock is on a different page. That's where I put it, three pages over.

Sounds like someone sold you a dud, especially if it's acting like that and can't read/write.

You should be able to enter service mode regardless, and if any buttons at all generate a tone, they all should. Hope you can get your dough back.

Respectfully, your username might be a little off if you're asking these kinds of questions. :)

Remember kids: You're buying the seller, too.

I mainly mess with the older Motorolas I’m kinda new to the APX line so I apologize for my newness. I’m going to be returning the radio and getting my money back. Thanks for your help!
