I got this software up and running, downloaded whatever was in my scanner (296) and saved and tinkered around with it.

I am having some troubles creating files. I know how to cut and paste the frequencies but how do I add talk group ids.

For example I would like to create a bank for Hamilton.

Does anyone one here have a file for the arc250? I have instructions but no printer to print out how to do it.

I imagine omeone on here has a file for the Hammer and any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Eric

That's a piece of cake. Go to the 'Trunk' selection on the top toolbar. Click on it, and you get a pulldown for the ID list and system settings. Get the settings done first; what kind of system it is, whether you want the activity ID on, ect.
Once all that's done, go back to the 'Trunk' pulldown and this time click on the ID list, and you'll get a form where you put in your talkgroups.

Very easy. 73s Mike

** MODERATED. No need to post every talkgroup you import. One or two showing the format was all that was necessary.

At this time, scan list can only be imported via mem file.:( Butel is currently working on full import of ID's similar to ADI or Webcatcher, which imports freqs from other sources.:)

Currently though, with the list you have:
First, get rid of the Hex Column, then your list needs to be sorted into scanlist groupings of ten each. Since your interest is mainly Hamilton, find those which apply and copy/paste into the ID pulldown mentioned by Mike. You may use remaining scanlist for others because all but one scanlist can be lockedout easily during ID SCAN Mode, either scanning with or without ARC remote.

BTW, when in the ID Pulldown, note the Edit ScanList Tags to the right of the Icon group. Click on this and type in the list name, this will show up on line 4 during scanning.

Thanks for everyones help.
:)
It would prob be easier to create my own, besides most of the Hamilton's city service I listed is garbage save the PD & FDP.
I wonder if anyone on here would like a few mem files that I will ineviably (sp?) create? If not I will post them on our local Yahoo group that sevices Ontario.

There are several ways to import data into the ARC line of software.

Most involve putting your list into a format that you can cut and paste. I normally use Excel to import my list and sort it into columns which can then be cut and pasted into ARC.

There's also a clipboard import feature as well which might work.

Unfortunately there's no real easy way to do it (yet).

Eric,

I used the new Web Import feature in Win96 and copied to this excel file. Restructure as needed, the copy/paste into ARC. I could set the file in ARC250.mem but don't have the faintest idea how you would need it.

Thanks Mike for your advice, I figure that I am not in Hamilton all that often anymore and will prob just print out the list and just enter in all the talkgroups I want, i.e. PD, FDP and 'meet me.' Plenty of i-calls on that system as well.
Frank, I thank you for your efforts, i will check out the file you sent me @ home.
Thank goodness I didnt have to start from scratch as I was using the Uniden software previously and just sent the data from my scanner to the arc250.

Eric,

Keep in mind that the Pro 96 will allow for 12 character tags, while your scanner will take up to 16, so you can edit those you use back to 16 if needed.
