File from KG-UV9d Mate r1.00 (191031) copying for KG-UV950P

Hello,

I have a file saved from a KG-UV9D that i want to save into my new KG-UV950P. I have both instances of the wouxun software opened, but i cannot open the saved file stored with the UV9d software (they look identical) nor can i copy the saved data from the 9d software into the blank, opened file for the uv950p.

It has all my presets for stations that i want loaded into the new UV950p. It is saved as a .kg file, which should open in both.
I cannot attach a .kg file here.

How do i take the data i have saved in the UV9D file, and copy or open in the UV950P software so i can transfer to the new radio (950P)

I am in the Charlotte area, i need my UHF-VHF files for my bands, if i cannot get the transfer to work, i can copy and paste manually (im trying to avoid that), does anyone have a link to a file I can use with this radio to get it up and going?

I've been waiting on Chirp to add the KG-UV950P to the list but I don't think it is going to happen. I use KG-UV950P Commander to program my radio right now.

I noticed Chirp does not have it listed, where did you download commander? I have the CD that came with my cable, and i downloaded the file directly from Wouoxun, but i noticed the program that runs the UV9d Mate is a different program and accepts different files that the 950p.

My saved files from the Mate will not open in the 950p program, and i cannot even copy and paste from one to the other. I don't want to have to copy all of my records manually into the 950p, is there a way to get the 950p software to recognize the MATE file or another way?

Just FYI, I contacted Wouxun about file compatibility between radios. They stated that even though the radios are manufactured by Wouxun, these 2 specific radios use a different program. The files are saved using the same file type, it is the program that is different.

I asked them for any option to take the file from the MATE and upload it into the 950p, to which they stated there are no options.

I asked specifically since the file types are the same, could I not save it locally and upload into the 950p program; they said there is no way since the programs used for each one are built intrinsically different.

They did not say the code is the same or different, but the requirements for each column of data in each program are written completely separate from each other.

I asked if they had a single software that would work across all Wouxun radios; they said no, but they would take my feedback into consideration. 😂

Here is a brief transcript of the end of the email chain. Hopefully this helps someone, or assists in finding a workaround like Chirp ( which currently does not support 950p)

Is there any option if I send you the file formatted for the mate, you can save in a format the 950p can read?

Do I have any other option to get the data into the 950p file instead of copying each line?
