Problem: When pressing the Find button in the Find/Replace Data window, ARC536 throws an error and crashes. Find window will not appear on restart. Find window will only reappear after ARC536 is exited cleanly by the user and restarted a second time.

Platform: Windows 7 Home Professional SP1
Butel Product: ARC536PRO v2.2 build 11
Scanner: Uniden SDS200

Expected Behavior: Upon pressing the Find button in the Find/Replace Data window, I expected to be presented with a list of the entries in the Favorites Browser matching the find term entered in the Find/Replace Data window.

Observed Behavior: Upon pressing the Find button in the Find/Replace window, ARC536 first displays an error window titled "ARC_536" and then crashes once the user acknowledges the error by clicking OK. The content of the error window is "Run-time error '438': Object doesn't support this property or method" above an OK button.

Steps to reproduce:
1) Launch ARC536
2) Read favorite(s) from scanner
3) Select one of the top level entries in the Favorites Browser
4) Press Ctrl-F to open the Find/Replace Data window
5) Enter a search term in the Find field
6) Press the Find button in the Find/Replace Data window
7) Observe the error popup then click it's OK button
8) Observe that ARC536 has crashed
9) Repeat steps 1-4 and observe that the Find/Replace Data window will not appear by pressing the hotkeys or by selecting it from the Edit menu.
10) Quit ARC536
11) Repeat steps 1-4 and observe that the Find/Replace Data window now appears on demand.
12) Rinse and repeat as desired

Please let me know if you want any logs and where to find them if you do.

I'm available for beta testing. I can break pretty much anything, but I'm murder on software.

Cheers!

Have you checked for a support Email for Butel?
If so, you may get a better reply there even though Gommert Buysen is fairly active here and does answer problem reports.

I've not used Arc536 in a while but will be interested to see if this is updated.

I looked on their site, but the only contact method on the site is a webform email with a 1000 character limit. That's not enough for a full bug report, so here I am. I guess I could use the form to notify Gommert to look here or request an email to use for reporting bugs.

Thanks for getting me to think of alternate solutions!

That is weird, I checked some of my Butel versions also and no support email found in any of them.
I know I used to have one but that was back before I used Outlook so those address's are mostly gone.

Hopefully Gommert will stop by here and see your post or see your link to this post for help in the web form.
He seems to be pretty good about checking the forums here for posts with Butel or ARC in the title and then giving support.

Good Luck!
